Levin H. Campbell, Jr., Board Chair

Levin H. (Lee) Campbell Jr. received a B.A. in History from Harvard University, an M.A. in Education from Tufts University and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He worked at the USS Constitution Museum and Mystic Seaport Museum early in his career, and moved on to teaching middle school history, and coaching some middle school sports. He worked at Thompson Island Outward Bound for nine years where he taught history, English and math, and helped administer a middle school program for urban youth. He has been a Trustee of the Sea Education Association, a leading provider of undergraduate and high school research and educational programs in ocean sciences in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, Treasurer of Rehearsal for Life in Boston, a program using improvisational theater and music to enhance social emotional learning in school age students in Boston, and the past chair of the Vinalhaven Land Trust in Maine. His principal “hobby” is sailing, both locally and offshore and transatlantic. He has been a Trustee of the MHS since 2013, served as Board Secretary, and been an active member and chair of multiple committees.
